Directors & Officers
ADI MULJO - Chief Executive Officer, Director
Adi Muljo is uniquely suited for the office of CEO of a global spice company. He resides in the state of Maryland where he operates a trade consultancy, but in his native Indonesia, the very centre of the spice universe, Adi enjoys a reputation as one of the most respected and renowned corporate ambassadors in the country.
Between 1971 and 1998, Adi held various senior positions with the Astra Group, Indonesia's largest conglomerate. The positions included General Manager of its Xerox Division and Managing Director of Inter Delta, Indonesia's sole distributor for Kodak products and Canon cameras. From 1981-1998, he was responsible for the Vancouver and Baltimore offices of The Astra Group and was in charge of overseeing their North American expansion.
In 1998, Adi founded the Maryland-based AMG Group, a company promoting two-way trade between North America and several Asian and European countries.
In 2006, Adi began developing a new business model based on several factors; his relationships with spice growers in Indonesia, a void in the North American spice and herb, and consumer trends toward quality and authenticity.
Due to his reputation in Indonesia as a business builder and facilitator of trade, Adi very quickly secured the people, partnerships and plant the new company required to ensure optimum quality, freshness, and product control. Today the facility has an organic certification and processes and packages Spice Depot spices from Indonesia, Asia, Europe, Africa and North America.
Adi's patience and commitment have paid off as is evidenced by the company's impressive board of directors and management team, and also by performance.
Adi's modern-day spice road travels take him between his home in Maryland, to Indonesia, Asia, Australia, Europe, Africa, the company's distribution centre in Vancouver, Canada, and various ports of call in betweenMr. Muljo holds a BA in Economics and an MBA in Finance.
DANNY FERRARO - Vice Chairman, President New Product Development, Director
Mr. Ferraro has almost four decades experience in the retail and wholesale grocery industries. He has an extensive network of food and grocery industry contacts developed in and around his family-owned grocery business, which at its peak comprised 26 stores in Western Canada.
Danny's experience as a manager of a Coca-Cola soft drink bottling plant inspired the development of the first company to bottle "No Name" beverages in North America. During these years, he developed an in-depth level of knowledge and understanding of new product development and new product marketing. Danny sold the beverage company but retains an owner/operator interest in a family owned and operated supermarket in the West Kootenay area of British Columbia.
Mr. Ferraro joined The Spice Depot, Inc in 2008 and, until he assumed the office of President, he wore many hats. His love of quality food, as well as his knowledge of food science, was instrumental in the development of The Spice Depot's award winning "World's Best Spices / Always Grind Fresh" grinder blends.
His most important role as President was the one he played bringing all of the right people to 'Spice Depot's kitchen table' as he says. He advantaged the many quality relationships garnered over 40 years in the industry and purposefully identified and solicited the interest and loyalties of Mr. Ryan, Mr. Laidlaw, Mr. Croft and Mr. Stanley and, before making a lateral move from managing President, to Vice Chairman, President New Product Development, made certain those people were firmly entrenched and focused on their particular areas of responsibility and expertise.
Mr. Ferraro still wears many hats but his focus is now on his passion for new product development for the company and for its major clients. He works side-by-side with his new team to help grow the company and increase shareholder value.
